Dakota Weik

Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor

Tattoo ethnographer, documentary filmmaker, and apprentice tattoo artist. I am building a living archive of tattoo culture and the traditions behind it, documenting the art, the artists, and the cultures before they are lost.

What I Am Building

An independent, cinematic documentary series that dives deep into the cultures and stories of tattooing across the world.

A new documentary series traveling to the communities keeping ancestral tattooing alive, sitting with the practitioners who carry the marks forward.

A living archive and directory of the world's tattoo artists, built to document the craft the way any cultural heritage deserves.

A free digital library of over 125 rare and essential tattoo books, gathered in one place.

The Halls of Ink Foundation funds education for indigenous children to reclaim their culture.

My apprentice journey under @filouino at Atelier Le Filou in Horb am Neckar, Germany.
